Nokia N85 Review – Slide into the Market!

The Nokia 85 is the Finnish giants slide phone, a very compact and extremely pretty design which is lovely to hold and as an excellent spring assisted sliding mechanism. Available only copper colour as well as the standard black, the N85 is among the most attractive of the N series, and with a 16 million colour, 2.6 inch screen that presents a wide variety of possibilities, is very capably equipped to start with.
The handset comes with all the usual brightness controls and other functions and weighs in at just 128 g; with almost 7 hours talk time is clear that much of the weight is in the battery, and although not the lightest phone on the market it does feel well built a good handle.
In common with the modern trend for multimedia phones, the N85 as an excellent camera facility; five megapixels and a 20 times digital zoom come with high-quality optics and autofocus that has a two-stage key as well as a dedicated camera key. The flash is excellent, with the dual LED system and redeye reduction at present excellent snapshot results. The lovely slide cover gives added protection to lens, and the ability to print directly to computer printers is an added bonus that will meet with many friends. The full range of Nokia sharing capability is also present, and we know how good that is.
Video capability is also excellent, with a  640 x 480 pixel capability and the digital zoom feature; with MP4 capability and supporting all other formats plus video streaming, image stabilising, editing and online blog and photo uploads the moving picture quality of this phone is quite superb. An action scene of one of the half hours makes this almost a full-scale video camera, something that is not seen often in this price range.
The music capability of the N85 is also excellent, as should be expected with mobile phones these days and especially those from Nokia. Carrying MP3, WMA and all the popular formats, the entertainment system is really quite excellent and very good value for money. The playlist function is superb, and the general selection functions available with a media centre is practically second to none. As is the norm these days, a built-in FM stereo radio comes with the Nokia music manager system.
Personalising an N85 is great fun as ring tones and polyphonic files can all be incorporated as well as MP3 and other music playing functions; the N85 comes with built-in 3-D sound effects because which presents an absolutely fantastic sound. The ability to synchronize Windows media player is an added bonus, and with a start-up of 74 MB of memory and a possible upgrade to 8 GB with a memory card there is plenty of capacity in this compact and very pretty hand set.
Among the more impressive features of this Nokia is its ability to surf the web; web browsing technologies including HTML and XHTML, as well as many others makes this an easy phone use to access websites, understand the Nokia web browser is an established an easy-to-use system. With facilities to shop online and to bring in newsfeeds, plus all the messaging systems that are expected on a modern-day high-quality phone, mean this phone can be used for business use as well as for keeping in touch with friends and family and chatting online.
Connectivity is excellent and with Bluetooth and high-speed USB, plus a 3.5 mm AV connector supplied, the N85 wants for nothing in terms of overall specification.
To summarise them, the Nokia N85 is an excellent slide phone with all of the action is great to use and produced by one world’s foremost mobile phone manufacturers. It comes with excellent features and great reputation, and will stand alongside many more expensive phones as being just as good.
